Life without Windows or OS X

GNU/Linux is quite possibly the most important free software achievement since the original Space War, or, more recently, Emacs. It has developed into an operating system for business, education, and personal productivity. GNU/Linux is no longer only for UNIX wizards who sit for hours in front of a glowing console. Are you thinking about switching to Linux and want to learn how to use it? Have you been using GNU/Linux for some time and want to learn even more? This is the place for you.

Rival RFX-Guerrero-V Bag Gloves - HDE-F

Not a software post.

Most people associate boxing gloves with Premier Boxing Champions, black eyes and knockouts. The truth is with boxing bag gloves you do fight anyone. Bag gloves involves throwing punches at the air or at a punching bag. The Rival RFX-Guerrero-V Bag Gloves are specifically designed for bags and punch mitt use only. Punching a heavy bag feels pretty empowering too.

A great pair of quality gloves are needed by everyone who use their hands for punching. It doesn’t matter if you are a boy or girl. Big or small. Beginner or pro. You cannot just blindly buy the coolest looking or cheapest gloves out at the store. Using the wrong gloves will mess up your hands. They are thought to be one of the highest quality boxing gloves ever made. They are well-crafted and nicely-padded. However, both Grant and Winning gloves start at $500.00 USD.

Review

I borrowed these gloves with the intention of finding the perfect 8oz fight glove which I can use for training (bag and pads). I was skeptical of a company claiming to producing a legitimate “Mexican-Style” pro boxing glove with a velcro enclosure, that are just as good as a lace-up.

These gloves are the real deal. They sport an in your face, Rival logo at the top and "hand crafted with pride" on the grip bar. It has an attached thumb connected to the fingers with a piece of leather. The wrist fasteners are unique and utilize two straps, one around the wrist and one coming down from the palm. When these straps are tightened, they really immobilize the wrist like a lace-up glove. I could barely bend my wrist back as the wrist-lock 2 provided a stung custom fit.

I love the way the RFX-Guerrero looks as well as the way they feel when I hit  my everlast Catch/Release Pads. I felt like a pro fighter. They are also great for double end bags and technical heavy bag work too (on an aqua bag, specifically). 16oz gloves on a heavy bag can give you a great work out, but people sometimes forget about their technique as they get more tired. Plus I have noticed a lot of pros use 10oz gloves to hit the heavy bag and pads.  On this HDE-F version, the leather is laminated with a high density EVA foam which makes it stiffer and firmer than the SF-F version.

The person I borrowed the bag gloves from have been using them for several months on bags/pads and they show very little signs of wear or damage. Stitching remains intact without fraying. The double stitching is pretty much perfect. I find them to be the most coolest looking bag gloves available. However I wish they came in the color gold or even metallic colors.

Conclusions

People like myself that like Winning/Grant gloves but can’t afford them should default to these Rival gloves because they are very high quality and more affordable. Gloves like the RFX-Guerrero-V which are made for bag work have high-density memory foam that last longer. The liner felt nice, and the position of my fist was very much on par with a RFX-Guerrero glove fight glove. The feel of hitting things in a fight glove is significantly different than your typical training glove. I can pretty much feel everything, and with proper hand wrapping there is no discomfort. The protection for the knuckles is quite moderate. People with knuckle problems will have some trouble. This is the first time I've tried Rivals velcro "V" strap, and it is the best custom fit outside of a lace-up glove. They are way better than my Rival Econo Bag Gloves. However the Rival Econo Bag Gloves cost about 60% less than Guerrero-V Bag Gloves. Considering what you get for under 150 dollars, I say these Guerrero Bag Gloves are well priced.

I will buy pair for myself one day...

Note: Rival RFX-Guerrero-V Bag Gloves can never be used for sparring or hitting another person. The layered foam padding is way too hard. They are for bag, punch mitt, or air use only.
