Life without Windows or OS X

GNU/Linux is quite possibly the most important free software achievement since the original Space War, or, more recently, Emacs. It has developed into an operating system for business, education, and personal productivity. GNU/Linux is no longer only for UNIX wizards who sit for hours in front of a glowing console. Tue 12:00 Noon CST Zero Hour

Fire Fox supporters are organizing launch parties around the world today, and Mozilla is trying to set a world record for most software downloads in a 24-hour period. Mozilla will try to set a Guinness World Record: the most downloads of software in the first 24 hours of its release, A.K.A “Download Day”. Mozilla has received over 1 million pledges to download the software on the day of its release. This day is Ten years in the making. The Mozilla project is a global group who believe that openness, innovation, and opportunity are key to the continued health of the Internet.

“March 31, 1998 is the date that Mozilla was officially launched. It's the date the first Mozilla code became publicly available under the terms of an official open source license and a governing body for the project the Mozilla Organization began its public work.”

I am very happy with FF2 (Firefox) but as far as I can see F.F 3.0 is a worthy successor to the current version. Phishing sites are now blocked before the pages are even loaded, so your computer is never in danger, unlike Firefox 2 loaded the page. F.F keeps track of all reported malware sites, protecting you by blocking them before the pages even load, ensuring that your system. And there are fifteen thousand changes since the introduction of Firefox 2.0.

And lets face it with more and more computing moving online, net browsers are the most critical piece of software on our desktops.
