Life without Windows or OS X

GNU/Linux is quite possibly the most important free software achievement since the original Space War, or, more recently, Emacs. It has developed into an operating system for business, education, and personal productivity. GNU/Linux is no longer only for UNIX wizards who sit for hours in front of a glowing console. Are you thinking about switching to Linux and want to learn how to use it? Have you been using GNU/Linux for some time and want to learn even more? This is the place for you.

Steam's Winter Sale offers discounts on 'Streets Of Rage 4,' 'Wasteland 3' and more

The year is nearly over, and like always, another opportunity to pick up a bunch PC games for cheap. Even amidst Covid-19 delays in 2020, Valve's sales were on time. The same has been true also for 2021. My top 6 native GNU/Linux Games.

Metro Exodus

Metro Exodus is not like Metro: Last Light.  Where  as the Metro: Last Light  took place in a underground rail system, Metro Exodus takes players across an irradiated Russia aboard a train called Aurora. A lot of people do not like this game. I will say, you will need a little patience with the game. It starts a little slowly in the beginning and the combat takes some getting used to but, given enough time, the story line comes together really well and the characters end up being very memorable.

Left 4 Dead 2 (L4D2)

There's a reason people are still playing this over 10 years later.
I used to play this game a lot on XBOX 360  back when it came out and Left 4 Dead 1 before that. Left 4 Dead 2 got a major update in 2020, after like 10 years.  You can play this game on any system. You do not need a $900 USD g card. You can get a solid
60 FPS on a GTX 750 or even a AMD Ryzen APU

Black Mesa

Black Mesa is a great reimagining of Half-Life, it is a must play for any Half Life fan and a great entry point for new comers. This isn't just Half-Life with HD textures slapped onto it, almost everything was remade from scratch or improved. Each level improves on the already great design of the original. Black Mesa is a brand new experience rebuilt from the popular Half-Life game. Note: this is NOT a direct remake.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition

There really is not a lot to say about this game. Its been around for along time.  Shadow of the Tomb Raider Definitive Edition  Combined the base game, all seven DLC challenge tombs, as well as all downloadable weapons, outfits, and skills. Shadow of the Tomb Raider Definitive Edition is the ultimate way to experience to get every thing the base game has to offer.

Streets Of Rage 4

Streets of Rage 4 is the sequel we didn't get in the 90's This game is a classic. I played all of the older Streets of Rage games growing up. This game is unbelievably true to the originals. The Mr. X Nightmare DLC add on is a nice touch. But be warned the DLC does not add story content. If you do buy the DLC, the new characters, including Max Thunder and Shiva, and Estel Aguirre. The DLC characters also get their own individual training modules to help players learn their capabilities.

Full Metal Furies

If you’ve ever played Castle Crashers then you know what you’re in for with Full Metal Furies. It’s something of a 2.5D side-scroller like many brawlers before it. It’s also an action role playing game, with the ability to buy upgrade skills and equipment at a base camp along with the ability to earn mastery bonuses through equipment use. Four classes make up the characters of the Full Metal Furies, split between Tank, Fighter, Engineer, and Sniper. True, Full Metal Furies is primarily a brawler, and a good one in my opinion.
