Life without Windows or OS X

GNU/Linux is quite possibly the most important free software achievement since the original Space War, or, more recently, Emacs. It has developed into an operating system for business, education, and personal productivity. GNU/Linux is no longer only for UNIX wizards who sit for hours in front of a glowing console. Are you thinking about switching to Linux and want to learn how to use it? Have you been using GNU/Linux for some time and want to learn even more? This is the place for you.

My top 6 proton powered games

What is Steam Proton?
Proton is a compatibility layer that allows Windows games to run on GNU+Linux-based operating systems. Currently, Steam for GUN+Linux does not turn on Proton by default. You need to manually enable it.

What games will work on Proton? Not most. The best resource for determining how a game will run is called ProtonDB, a community-made website that currently tracks almost thousands of games, of which hundreds work on GNU+Linux. Unfortunately, the most popular games around Proton’s compatibility layer do not work with the anti-cheat software use in widely played online games.

Warframe

Warframe is an MMO, co-op, third-person shooter, taking place in our very own solar system. Players take on the role of the Tenno – ancient warriors now needed more than ever to keep balance within the universe and protect innocents from the new war they find themselves in. The Tenno operate the titular Warframes, battlesuits with exceptional combat prowess, agility, and space magic.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Ultimate Edition

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow is a third-person action-adventure game that is very similar to the early God of War games. You play as Gabriel who serves to protect people from evil forces. His wife dies and her soul end up being trapped in between worlds. She guides Gabriel so he could defeat the lords of shadow and bring peace to world and its people. Sound design is great too. Voice acting is up to AAA standards and characters sound believable. Sounds add to the atmosphere a lot, it might be calm chirping of birds one second and in a blink of an eye orchestral music starts playing and you stand up against a deadly foe.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice - GOTY Edition

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is an action-adventure game played from a third-person view. Sekiro draws inspiration from the Tenchu. The vast world provides a ton of options for players, so if you find yourself stuck, you can explore elsewhere and fight other enemies. You will die a lot in this game. There are also a lot of options for how to approach each individual encounter and explore the world, including a lot of mobility and versatility thanks to the Shinobi Prosthetic’s grappling hook.

DEATH STRANDING

DEATH STRANDING is a windows game. So yes proton will be needed to play. The game in two words a the game is a "walking simulator". Many players will not be happy of that, but if you like to explore and experience worlds built in video games, get mesmerized eye candy and good story-telling, then this game is for you.  The story and mysteries about the world will make you finish the game.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Game of the Year Edition

The Witcher 3 will need proton. For those who do not know, Witcher is a story-driven open world RPG. The story which engages you from the first 10 minutes to the very end. Note:  You will not be able to mash buttons and win battles. You have to dodge, use signs, and on higher difficulties get yourself ready to have an oil for a specific enemy and a bomb to be able to put an end to his or her misery. Even after over 100 hours with The Witcher 3, I still come back to it for time to time.

Tales of Arise

The Tales series is classified as a role-playing video game series. Multiple game-play elements carry over from entry to entry. The main unifying element is the combat system, the Linear Motion Battle System (L.M.B.S).  Like most Tales games, Arise is a standalone entry: meaning you don’t need to play prior games to understand this one. Tales of Arise is the best looking "Tales of" game of all time. It is jaw-dropping gorgeous because of their move to the Unreal Engine. However don't let that scare you. You can play this game with with a  Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 or AMD Radeon HD 7950 GPU. Note: Arise is a purely single-player game with no multiplayer or online support, which is a change from the past Tales games. For me... the best Tales game of all time is Vesperia. The story is second to none, the combat system is deep once it’s fully unlocked. However... Arise is a close second.
